Procurement Center for Excellence

To develop and implement best practice procurement methods in Rockland municipalities, the County of Rockland has created the Procurement Center for Excellence. The Procurement Center of Excellence will:

  • Provide expert procurement advice, training and capacity building to all levels of local government;
  • Highlight opportunities across all levels of local government to share expertise, increase productivity and deliver savings and efficiencies through improved public procurement;
  • Administer e-procurement platforms and act as lead agency to provide local government access to advantageous national purchasing networks;
  • Convene local governments, special improvement districts, schools, fire districts and others annually to align capital equipment purchasing plans in collaboration with relevant County department heads, such as Highway, Sheriff, IT Directors, Finance Directors and Personnel Directors.
  • Collaborate with local governments to find the most cost-effective means to purchaser goods and services.
