Rockland Municipal Planning Federation

Our Mission:

To provide the organization with structure, a Constitution and By-Laws were written. The Federation is comprised of a Board of Directors, which includes a President, First Vice-President, Second Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, four Directors, and two Associate Directors. Each position is elected for a term of two years. In addition, the Board of Directors appoints an Executive Director, who helps to oversee the operation of the organization. The Rockland County Planning Commissioner is Ex-Officio to the Board, and the out-going President serves as President Emeritus.

The Federation has formed standing committees which can be served by either General or Associate Members:

  • Government Affairs Committee
Formed to study, recommend, and report to the Federation desirable revisions of planning and zoning legislation at the State, County, and local level.
  • Program and Public Relations Committee
Formed to prepare and recommend programs for the training and education of members, to schedule meetings, and to promote recognition and support among the members and the general public for the goals and purposes of the Federation.
  • Planning Coordination Committee
Formed to study and recommend means for improving the coordination and efficiency of planning action among and in the various governmental agencies at the levels of government.
  • Committee on Certification & Licensing Review
Formed to study and recommend whether certification should be required for all planning and zoning board members in the County, and whether planners should be licensed in New York State.
