Rockland also has the most unique, sought after and desired locations in the industry, including a former hospital with dedicated floors for filming – considered the gold standard in the filming industry.

As a premier filming location in the Hudson Valley region, several network television series and motion pictures have been filmed in Rockland County, including:

Sound Stage Development


Rockland County is working on private sound stage development to meet the increased demand for enhanced infrastructure within the film production industry as part of its "REEL Rockland" campaign. Rockland County currently has five Quality Production Facilities (QPF's) which include:
  • Blue Hill Studios, Pearl River, NY.
  • Pearl River Studios, Pearl River, NY.
  • 303 Stages, Blauvelt, NY.
  • RTL Nanuet, Nanuet, NY.

Filming is an important part of economic development in Rockland County, and the benefits to our local communities are considerable. While we have much to offer the industry with our unique locations, highly skilled crews, and first-rate production facilities, we also have much to gain from them, including:

  • Local employment opportunities.

Filming Policies & Procedures


Subject to New York State rules and orders, film production activity is at the discretion of each municipality. Rockland County is accepting permit applications for its property, but the availability of some locations may be limited due to safety, staffing, capacity, and/or other issues and concerns. As such, please contact us with information regarding your film project and we will be happy to coordinate with the municipalities of your desired locations to help you get approved quickly.

All production companies interested in filming in Rockland County are required to submit a LETTER OF INTENT FORM which may be accessed here: https://explorerocklandny.com/letter-of-intent.

Our filming department requires all production companies to present their safety plans to the county prior to the commencement of filming.
