Caregiver Resource Center
The Office for the Aging is the new home to the Rockland County Caregiver Resource Center. We are dedicated to helping families coping with the physical, emotional, and financial responsibilities of caregiving. The Caregiver Resource Center will provide caregivers with information, assistance, counseling, support groups, and training, as well as initiatives including specialized training curricula for caregivers of adults with developmental disabilities, minority populations, and caregivers of grandchildren.
Available services at the Caregiver Resource Center include:
- Educational Symposiums
- Family consultation
- Care planning
- Counseling
- Caregiver Resource Center Library – Educational books, audio-visual materials, periodicals and other literature on various caregiving topics are available for loan to caregivers.
- Caregiver Training and Education
- Linking caregivers with other community-based services
- Nutrition and Wellness Seminars
- Respite Programs – a variety of community-based programs, such as adult day care and in-home personal care, can be accessed through the Center to provide caregivers a break from their caregiving responsibilities.
- Support groups including but not limited to:
- Bereavement
- Diabetic Lifestyle Coaching
- Family Caregiving
- Widow and Widowers
- Support for Older Adults who are Caregivers - supportive services to those grandparents and other older adults serving as a primary caregiver to children because the biological parents are unable to do so.
