PRESS RELEASE
Sheriff Louis Falco is pleased to announce that the Rockland County Sheriff's Office Corrections Division has achieved re-accreditation with the New York State Sheriff's Association. The Corrections Division initially became accredited in 2011 and must go through the process of re-accreditation every five years thereafter. "I am proud of the members of the Corrections Division who work hard day in and day out to provide professional services to people remanded to the custody of the Sheriff. Achieving re-accreditation involves everyone working together, from the Chief to the line officers, to meet the 166 standards to insure the safe, fair and efficient care, custody, and control of individuals house in the County Correctional facility", said Sheriff Falco.
The Corrections Accreditation Manual details 166 standards that a county must meet or exceed in order to earn accreditation. Standards cover all aspects of corrections division operations, including: personnel, uniform standards of procedure, division organization, recognition of employee performance, mission statement, fiscal management, maintenance of county-owned and non-county-owned property, records management, use of force, internal affairs, public
relations, jail functions, and health standards. The accreditation process improves operations, increases morale, reduces incidences of liability, reduces insurance costs and presents a professional image to the community.
The New York State Sheriff's Association Executive Director Peter Kehoe will personally attend a presentation ceremony to congratulate the members of the Corrections Division on their re-accreditation. The ceremony will be held on Monday April 17, 2017 at 11:30am in the Rockland County Correctional Facility visiting room #53 New Hempstead Rd. New City, NY 10956.
