How to apply for TRIPS service:

What is TRIPS?
TRIPS is Rockland County's paratransit bus service for residents with physical, mental, developmental or intellectual disabilities or senior citizens who are aged 60 or over. In each of these cases, TRIPS service is reserved for individuals who are unable to use municipal, fixed-route bus service.

TRIPS provides curbside-to-curbside service by appointment. TRIPS passengers may or may not go directly to their destinations and there may be several pick-ups and drop-offs along the way. TRIPS operates only within Rockland County. TRIPS stands for Transportation Resources, Intra-county, for Physically disabled and Senior citizens.

What is Regular Trips Service?
TRIPS service is reserved for individuals who find it difficult or impossible to use municipal, fixed-route bus service.

Who is eligible?
Residents with physical, mental, developmental or intellectual disabilities or senior citizens aged 60 or over. For residents with disabilities who do not meet the age requirement, certification by an approved Certifying Agency is required.

What are the hours of operation?
Monday through Friday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturdays: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Limited Service)

How do I request a ride?
Call (845) 364-8747 between the hours of 7:30 a.m - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Requests left on our answering machine for Regular TRIPS Service will not be honored. 

What about holiday service?
There is no regular TRIPS service on the following holidays:
New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Lincoln's Birthday; Presidents Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Columbus Day; Veterans Day; Thanksgiving Day; Day following Thanksgiving; Christmas Day.

What is ADA TRIPS Service?
A complementary, curb-to-curb origin-destination paratransit bus service for municipal, fixed-route bus services. ADA TRIPS service is designed to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) service criteria established by the Federal government.

Who is eligible?
To be eligible for ADA TRIPS service a rider must, because of a disability, be prevented from using the municipal, fixed-route bus service, and must be certified by TRIPS or an approved Certifying Agency as an ADA paratransit customer.

Where does it operate?
TRIPS ADA service only operates within Rockland County and both the origin and destination of the requested ride must fall within 3/4 of a mile on either side of a municipal, fixed-route bus route.

What are the hours of operation?

How do I request a ride?

  • Call (845) 364-8747 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and speak with a member of the TRIPS staff.
  • Leave an ADA ride request on the TRIPS voicemail system outside of regular business hours.

Please note: leaving an ADA ride request on the TRIPS voicemail system does not confirm or guarantee your trip request. TRIPS staff will call you to verify the receipt of your ADA ride request, inform you of ride availability, and confirm the date and time of your reservation.
