How we can help you quit smoking:
All our quit smoking programs offer nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), support and behavior change techniques. They are low cost and available to any one who lives, works, or attends school in Rockland County.
Here are the programs Put It Out Rockland offers. Find one that is right for you:
What you get: Up to four, 30 minute sessions with a cessation (quit smoking) specialist providing you with support, encouragement and assistance during the often challenging time of quitting smoking. Sessions are spread out over a 6-week period and you can receive up to an 8-week supply of nicotine replacement products if you are medically eligible.
Quit Smoking Classes
What you get: 10 sessions over 8-weeks gives you an opportunity to learn about the harmful effects of tobacco and to work with other smokers who are trying to quit. The classes are suitable for groups of 11 or more people. The cessation (quit smoking) specialist guides the group through the quitting process.You can receive up to 8-weeks of nicotine replacement products.
Small Group Classes
What you get: 4-half hour sessions that meet over a 5-week period of time. This works for small groups of 3 to 10 people and can take place at your work site, community organization or other community sites.

Here's what smoking can do to your body:
Smokers inhale over 4,000 chemicals into their lungs. Around 40 of the chemicals are known to cause cancer. Tar (a collection of many tiny particles from the burning cigarette) is deposited on the respiratory tract. This causes an increase in risk of asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer.
