Effective February 28, 2013, the Rockland County Department of Health will no longer require or issue Restricted Burning Permits. This change at the County level does not impact local requirements and/or restrictions on open burning that may currently be in place in your municipality. For guidance on local requirements, please contact your Town or Village Code Enforcement Official and/or the Town or Village Fire Inspector.

Additionally, the Rockland County Health Department no longer handles complaints regarding air emissions. These complaints should be directed to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Region 3 office at (845) 256-3048 or the Environmental Conservation Police at 800-TIPP-DEC (800-847-7332).

Finally, the Rockland County Health Department no longer be permits industrial sources in the County. These sources will be permitted through the Department of Environmental Protection. Additional information can be found on the DEC website at http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/281.html
