Rockland County Executive Ed Day to Lift State of Emergency
New City, NY, - The State of Emergency banning travel on all county and local roads for all but essential business which was issued by Rockland County Executive Ed Day and became effective 6:00 AM, Monday, February 1, 2021, will be lifted at 7:00 AM, Tuesday, February 2, 2021.
“After consultation with County Highway Superintendent Skip Vezzetti and a close review of the forecast and radar from this storm, we will be lifting the State of Emergency and the restriction on all non-essential travel. We recommend a delayed start to any travel tomorrow to give crews added time to clear the roads and urge caution of those who will be traveling as light snow is predicted throughout the day Tuesday. This storm has produced dangerous, white out conditions and I thank all our residents who heeded the warnings to stay off the road; by staying home you’ve allowed our plow drivers the time and space they need to safely do their jobs,” said County Executive Ed Day.
TOR (Transport of Rockland) and TRIPS service remain suspended until further notice. Please visit our Transit Alerts page for additional information, this page will be updated when service resumes: https://rocklandgov.com/departments/public-transportation/transit-alerts
“We must also acknowledge the herculean efforts of our County Highway Department, all of Rockland’s local DPWs and those employees who kept county government and other local municipalities running during a most trying time,” concluded County Executive Day.
