Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S Census Bureau had extended Census operations until the end of October to ensure time for residents to respond and to enable Census enumerators to go door-to-door to count those who have not yet responded. Property Sold to Habitat for Humanity

County Executive Ed Day signed the Resolution authorizing the sale of tax delinquent county-owned property to Habitat For Humanity of Rockland. 28 and 32 Second Street, Hillburn, NY, were acquired through foreclosures by Rockland County. Habitat For Humanity offered to purchase the properties for $53,932.01 which is the amount of delinquent tax due to the County through December 31, 2019. [Read More]

Major Failure of Cellular Providers to Maintain Infrastructure

In the wake of the widespread damage and power outages caused by Tropical Storm Isaias cell service is suffering in Rockland County and around the region creating a critical public safety issue. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division and Facilities Management team have been working non-stop to maintain the Rockland County Public Safety Communications System. Rockland County has once again been a victim of severe weather with an unexpected turn of Tropical Storm Isaias bringing damaging wind instead of the heavy rain which was forecast. The damage done in the hours when Isaias moved through our area is devastating and is second in my mind only to what we suffered during Superstorm Sandy.
