Commissioner of Health Signs Face Covering Order for All Educational Institutions, Childcare Programs and School Buses

Statement from the Office of County Executive Ed Day

The Office of the Rockland County Executive announced that County Executive Ed Day has successfully undergone surgery on his right shoulder at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. The procedure repaired damage to the distal tendon, long head of the biceps tendon and the subscapularis muscle. The shoulder had been operated on twice previously, first in 1995 after an on the job injury with the NYPD and second in 2003 after a fall. [Read More]

Health Department Offers Second Flu Vaccine Clinic Friday, October 16, from 10 Am – 2 Pm in Pomona

Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert announce that the Health Department has scheduled a second flu (influenza virus) vaccine clinic for the 2020-2021 flu season. This clinic is for everyone 6 months and older, and will be held on Friday, October 16, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Robert Yeager Health Center, in the parking lot in front of Building F, which is located at 50 Sanatorium Road in Pomona. The clinic is a drive-up for those arriving in vehicles or a walk-up for those arriving by public bus. In order to receive a flu vaccine, everyone must wear a mask. [Read More]

I am extremely disappointed by last night’s complete lack of action by the Democratic Majority members of the Rockland County Legislature. Their vote of disapproval on the financial plan we submitted now puts at risk hundreds of County employees jobs and raises the specter of a double-digit property tax increase. Passage of my plan would have likely resulted in a 2021 County Budget with no layoffs and no property tax increase, but these are the dire alternatives we now face because of their vote and lack of action.
