Winter Weather Advisory
New City, NY, - County Executive Ed Day and Highway Superintendent Charles "Skip" Vezzetti remind residents to stay safe and stay off the roads, if possible, during today's Winter Storm.
"Rockland County Highway crews have been on the roads salting and clearing as necessary since early this morning," said Highway Superintendent Vezzetti. "We will be working through the storm to keep roads clear but ask residents to please stay home if they can, it makes our job much easier."
Rockland County Government offices are open but due to the expected weather all Health Department Clinics are closed. Transport of Rockland (TOR) buses are operating regular weekday service. Please expect TOR delays due to road conditions.
The National Weather Service has forecast 5-10" of snow with a trace-1/10" of ice this morning into the early AM Tuesday for Rockland County.
"This combination of snow and ice can lead to downed tree limbs, wires and power outages, please be safe and do not go near any downed wires," said County Executive Day. "Report your outages as soon as you can to O&R so they can get to work, don't assume that they are aware that your power is out."
There are several ways to report outages and check on restoration status:
- Call Customer Assistance at 1-877-434-4100
- Text "OUT" to 69678
- Visit the O&R website: https://www.oru.com/en/services-and-outages/report-track-service-issue/report-outage-status
