Rockland County Highway Superintendent Elected Head of State Group

NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day is pleased to announce that Rockland County Highway Superintendent Charles "Skip" Vezzetti has been elected president of New York State County Highway Superintendents Association.

"The rest of New York will see what those of us in Rockland County have known for a long time – Skip Vezzetti is a pro," the County Executive said. "We have very talented people working for county government and he is one of them."

The New York State County Highway Superintendents Association works to promote and maintain a safe and efficient county roads system.

Vezzetti, a Palisades resident, said he is honored to represent both Rockland County and the Hudson Valley as president of the statewide association.

"Roads are the one service that everyone uses," he said. "Our priority is providing safe, affordable and well-maintained roads and bridges."

Vezzetti has been Rockland's highway superintendent for 18 years. In that role, he is in charge of maintaining 170 miles of county roadway. He also oversees the highway staff and equipment.

He was previously Commissioner of Public Works and Superintendent of Highways in Orangetown.

In his role as president of the New York State County Highway Superintendents Association, Vezzetti will represent county highway superintendents from all over New York at meetings of the state Department of Transportation, the Federal Highway Association and other functions that deal with highways and bridges.

"I will make sure that the concerns of both the Superintendent's Association and Rockland County are brought to the table," he said.

He is the first Highway Superintendent from Rockland County to lead the industry group since 1982.

Vezzetti's term begins in January.
