NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day invites members of the community to join county employees at a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, which is also both Flag Day and World Blood Donor Day.
"Giving your blood to save someone's life is a patriotic act and a perfect way to observe Flag Day," said the County Executive who is on the New York Blood Center's Volunteer Leadership Team
He will also take part in a ceremony earlier that day to honor eight of Rockland County's top blood donors.
"These residents who have given so generously of themselves so that others may live set an example for all of us," he said.
The blood drive organized by county employees will be held at the Rockland Fire Training Center, 30 Firemen's Memorial Drive, Pomona.
It will be run by the New York Blood Center, which serves hospitals in Rockland and throughout the region.
The New York Blood Center is asking the public to donate blood at a nearby drive, NYBC center or mobile unit to help replenish the community's blood supply.
