Rockland County Executive Ed Day Announces Corrections Contract Ratification
NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day is pleased to announce that the Corrections Officers Benevolent Association of Rockland County has ratified a tentative contract with the County.
Day said that he will sign the agreement, which also requires the approval of the Rockland County Legislature.
"We thank the union, the Sheriff's Department and the Department of Personnel for working together to execute a fair and balanced contract," the County Executive said. "We look forward to reaching fair contracts with our other union employees."
The agreement with the Corrections Officers covers 2011-2020 and successfully settles an expired contract while creating mutually agreed upon provisions that cover three years in the future.
Contract highlights include:
• Incremental wage increases covering 2015-2020
• No retroactive payment
• Insurance benefit contribution from newly hired employees
• Tuition reimbursement for corrections officers
• Changes in drug testing policies to further safeguard the Corrections Facility
• Operational changes covering numerous contract provisions including but not limited to overtime, headcount coverage and scheduling which will result in cost reduction and/or efficiency changes
There are approximately 145 members in COBARC. It is one of the largest County employee unions.
