Additional Parking Spaces Added at New City County Complex, Rockland County Executive Ed Day Announces
NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County Executive Ed Day announces that 70 parking spaces have been added to the Allison-Parris County Office building complex at 11 New Hempstead Road.
The Rockland County Highway Department completed a repaving and re-striping project over the weekend that created the additional spaces.
"There are plenty of parking spaces to meet the needs of both Rockland County employees and visitors to the county office complex," Day said. "We can accommodate everyone who needs to park at the county building."
The additional spaces were created by reconfiguring the parking lot and adding a row of spaces in the back of the lot. The county hopes to add even more county parking spaces at the Chase building at 2 New Hempstead Road.
The additional parking spaces will make up for spaces that will be lost when the Sain Building at 18 New Hempstead Road is sold.
"I have long maintained that there is plenty of parking at our county offices and parking concerns are not a legitimate reason to hold up the sale of the Sain Building," Day said.
Additional information regarding the proposed sale of the Sain Building can be found here
Many municipalities including Westchester and Bergen counties charge for parking at county offices.
Rockland County hopes to be able to continue to offer free parking, depending on fiscal conditions related to the sale of the Sain Building, which would provide $4.51 million in revenue, put the property back on the tax roll and create much-needed housing for seniors.
