Rockland receives state grant for docks at Haverstraw park

NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County has received a state grant to replace the floating docks at Haverstraw Bay Park, Rockland County Executive Ed Day announced.

The $106,250 Hudson River Estuary grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will enable the county to replace the docks with ones that are handicapped-accessible

The funds will also pay for an ADA-compliant kayak launch.

"Haverstraw Bay has become one of our most popular county parks and we want everyone to be able to enjoy and use the facilities,"

More than 125,000 people visit the park annually and more than 700 boats launch from the site.

The County Executive and Allan Beers, director of the Rockland County Division of Environmental Resources, are preparing a resolution to submit to the Rockland Legislature next week to accept the funds.

The county hopes that the work will be completed by the late spring.
