Rockland County to Host Blood Drive on Wednesday

NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County Executive Ed Day invites members of the community to join county employees at a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, at the Fire Training Center in Pomona.

"Donating blood is one of the most generous acts a person can perform," Day said. "It is truly life-saving."

The blood drive organized by county employees will be held at the Rockland Fire Training Center. Lunch will be served to all donors. Walk-ins from the community are welcome.

The blood drive will be run by the New York Blood Center, which serves hospitals in Rockland and throughout the region.

The New York Blood Center declared a blood emergency in June and has been appealing to the public to donate. The organization has been reminding people how important it is to have an adequately stocked blood supply to respond when communities are faced with patient traumas or other events that require life-saving blood products.

Walk-ins are welcome. To find other blood drives or for more information, please call: 1-800-933-2566.
