Rockland County Executive Ed Day announces program for veterans at Suffern Veteran's Day ceremony
NEW CITY, NY – Rockland County Executive Ed Day will announce new programs for veterans, including a plan to provide combat veterans living in Rockland with an identification card.
Veterans can use the card to identify themselves to law enforcement officials to make police aware of their combat service. In addition, the county is working with towns that restrict park use to residents to allow veterans to use the facilities.
The county is reminding veterans that they are eligible for discounts at certain merchants through the FAVOR program run by the County Clerk's office.
The county executive will be joined by Suffern officials, several town supervisors, Jerry Donnellan, director of Rockland's Veterans Service Agency and Rockland County Clerk Paul Piperato.
