Demonstration of New Flood Barriers as part of Tropical Storm Preparation Efforts
NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County Executive Ed Day and officials from the Rockland Department of Fire and Emergency Services will demonstrate the use of new flood barriers just purchased by the county.
WHAT: Hurricane and flooding preparation demonstration
WHEN: 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2
WHERE: Rockland Fire Training Center, 35 Fireman's Memorial Drive, Pomona
The barriers were delivered just in time to help the county prepare for the possible impact of Tropical Storm Hermine over the Labor Day weekend.
The flood barriers will be available for municipalities to borrow in case of flooding. The barriers were purchased by the county for $150,000 as part of an effort to mitigate flood damage.
The county will also show its stockpile of generators and chainsaws.
