STATE COMPTROLLER AFFIRMS COUNTY EXECUTIVE DAY'S PROPOSED 2016 BUDGET
The State Comptroller's review of the County's budget for the 2016 fiscal year found that "the significant revenue and expenditure projections in the proposed budget are reasonable." In accordance with the Comptroller's recommendations, County Executive Ed Day offers as a policy to reduce the audited year-end General Fund unreserved deficit fund balance each year by a minimum of 10%. The County Executive will accomplish this via conservative budgetary practices and running government more efficiently, which has already yielded impressive savings during the first two years of his administration. This will create a General Fund operating surplus and will avoid an additional burden to the County taxpayer. If the 10% surplus is not achieved due to some unanticipated reason, County Executive Day will add any shortfall to his following years' budget. We thank Comptroller DiNapoli for recognizing our continued efforts to restore fiscal stability to Rockland County.
