COUNTY EXECUTIVE ED DAY ANNOUNCES FREE MEDICARE FORUM
Opportunity For Residents To Have Medicare Questions Answered
NEW CITY, NY – Are you eligible for Medicare in the near future? Are you already on Medicare and want to learn more about the program? Are you helping a family member navigate the Medicare landscape?
The Rockland County Office for the Aging will host a free, educational seminar on Medicare and Medicare (Part D) on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemen's Memorial Drive in Pomona.
The program will cover a variety of topics including upcoming changes to Medicare Part A and Part B benefits in 2016, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplement insurance. "We're excited to offer this free seminar to the community," said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. "Medicare is a critical program and understanding what it offers helps assure that all those eligible get the health benefits they deserve."
The seminar is designed to help Medicare recipients evaluate the best options for them. It will also detail the resources available to certain individuals to help reduce or eliminate the Part D premium and lower cost-sharing requirements. The Medicare Annual Election Period began October 15, 2015 and ends December 7, 2015.
The forum is open to all older adults and other Medicare-eligible beneficiaries. Registration is required. Contact Sharon Ryan, Rockland County Office for the Aging, at RyanS@co.rockland.ny.us or (845) 364-2118.
