Rockland Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
Rockland Senior Volunteer Program offers "one stop shopping" for people aged 55 years of age or older who are looking for enjoyable and meaningful volunteer service opportunities. Active volunteering can improve your health, and ward off isolation and depression for both the volunteers and the people they serve.

What RSVP Volunteers Do

  • Serve as home-delivered meal drivers, medical transportation aids. friendly visitors, food pantry workers, exercise instructors, clowns, museum guides, health insurance or income tax counselors, thrift shop and library assistants, handymen and much more!
  • Choose how and where they want to serve.
  • Learn new skills while utilizing the knowledge they developed over a lifetime.
  • Give their time, talent and expertise and heart.

What RSVP Volunteers Gain

Caring volunteers are the backbone of the Independence Project. Volunteers assist the elderly, disabled, homebound and veterans in Rockland County to attain a high level of independence by providing transportation form the client's home to and from medical appointments and pharmacies.

HIICAP Volunteers provides information, education and counseling about Medicare and other health insurances. Volunteers receive training under the auspices of the State Health Insurance Counseling Program. 

The Chore Service utilizes volunteers to help Rockland County senior citizens and people with disabilities remain safe and secure in their homes. If you are available during the week and can perform minor household repairs, please consider this great opportunity.
