Nominations for 2013 Senior of the Year and 2013Outstanding Contribution Made by a Senior - Due April 1st
The Rockland County Office for the Aging Advisory Council is now accepting nominations for the 2013 “Senior Citizen of the Year” and for the 2013 “Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen” awards. The deadline is April 1st.
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef will confer the two Rockland Awards May 22nd at the annual Senior Awareness Day at Rockland Community College. The County Executive and the Office for the Aging then will honor the two recipients at a luncheon on that day. "We want to recognize senior citizens in our community for their invaluable efforts helping each other and their community," Vanderhoef said.
The criteria for each award are as follows:
Senior Citizen of the Year: aged 60 and over, a Rockland resident who volunteers creating or planning programs that provide services and activities to enhance the lives of senior citizens in the community. Additional volunteer work also can be considered.
Outstanding Contribution by a Senior Citizen: aged 60 and over, a Rockland resident who volunteers on behalf of senior citizens. Additional volunteer work also can be considered.
A person can be nominated for both awards.
Nomination forms may be downloaded in Microsoft Word format below or by calling the Rockland County Office for the Aging at (845) 364-2110. To be considered, nominations must be received in the Office for the Aging by Monday, April 1, 2013.
